“As a non-Jew I have the
historical responsibility to fight against Jewish hatred and currently against the hatred for their historic homeland, Israel. To fight against
anti-Semitism is not the duty of the Jews, it is the duty of the non-Jews,” –– Pilar Rahola Martínez, Spanish journalist, writer, and former politician.

Martinez explains, “As a journalist it is my duty to search for the truth beyond prejudice, lies and manipulations. The truth about Israel is not told. As a person from the
left who loves progress, I am obligated to defend liberty, culture, civic education for children, coexistence and the laws that the Tablets of the
Covenant made into universal principle, principles that Islamic fundamentalism systematically destroys. That is to say, that as a non-Jew, journalist and lefty, I have a triple moral duty
with Israel, because if Israel is destroyed, liberty, modernity and culture will be destroyed too. The struggle of Israel, even if the world doesn't want to accept it, is the struggle of the world.”

This declaration from Martinez is a biblical view, since God said He would call upon the Gentiles (non-Jews) to help Israel.

“Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations and set up My standard to the people, and they will bring your sons in their bosom and your daughters will be carried on their shoulders….” (Isaiah 49:22)

“Behold, I will send for many fishermen,” says the Lord, “and they shall fish them…” (Jeremiah 16:16a)

“Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” says your God. “Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” (Isaiah 40:1-2)

Long before the Jewish Theodore Herzl popularized political, self-preservationist Zionism, Christians were promoting religious, biblical Zionism, the belief that the Bible declares the Jews would return to the Land of Israel before the return of the Lord.

“…the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you….” (Deuteronomy 30:3)

“It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left…” (Isaiah 11:11a)

In the 18th Century, Count Von Zinzendorf of Austria faithfully reminded Christians everywhere that Israel had a future and glorious role in the worldwide purposes of God. Many Christians began to speak out on the subject of Zionism.

  • Chicago evangelist, William E. Blackstone lobbied President Harrison to return Palestine to Jews and pleaded with European rulers to do so also.
  • Colonel George Gowler of Australia stated, “I should be truly rejoiced to see in Palestine a strong guard of Jews established in flourishing agricultural settlements.”
  • Reverend William Hechler, the Anglican minister to the British Embassy, was a strong believer in biblical prophecies of the Jewish return to Israel and worked with British Christians to aid Jewish refugees from Russian pogroms. In 1885, he was appointed chaplain to the British Embassy in Vienna, where he met Herzl. Hechler became intent upon encouraging him and arranged important meetings with influential people in Herzl’s quest for the establishment of a Jewish nation. Through the efforts of Hechler, the arranged meetings significantly advanced Herzl's and Zionism's legitimacy in Jewish and world opinion.
  • Evangelist Bob Jones said, "The restoration of Israel to her homeland was not a political mandate but a spiritual directive from the very Word of God. The Scriptures emphasize that heaven and earth may pass away, but God's Word cannot fail. Therefore, to consider relinquishing that heritage would be contrary to the mandate of Scripture and an offense against the Lord."

Christian Zionism is natural and rooted in both history and in the Bible. The following quotes from famous Americans and others expresses the value placed on Jews by those who know the Word of God. These represent only a few individuals that spoke out and acted on behalf of Jews returning to the land of Israel, those who are called Christian Zionist heroes.[1]

  • “The Hebrews have done more to civilize men than any other nation.” John Adams, 2nd President of the U.S.
  • “The Hebraic mortars cemented the foundations of American democracy.” Calvin Coolidge, 30th President of the U.S.
  • “We owe to the Jews a system of ethics…the most precious possession of mankind.” Winston Churchill, Prime Minister of Great Britain.
  • American scholar and writer, Thomas Cahill summarizes the reason for supporting the Jews when he said, “The Jews started it all – the underlying values that make all of us, Jew and Gentile, believer and atheist, tick.”
  • “According to the Bible there is a specific requirement for righteousness, which all nations ignore at their peril. It relates directly to their treatment of the Jewish People. Any nation, which mistreats them, forfeits, at least to some degree, the blessing of God, and worse, risks serious judgment. The Lord said to Abram: "I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you" (Gen 12). This principle, I suggest, is both emphatic and straightforward. If a nation is not living fully in God's blessing, it would do well to explore this issue - How has it treated the Jewish people?” –Tony Black of Reconciliation International, Jerusalem

True Christians believe that God keeps His Covenants––that includes the Covenant He made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (father of the Jewish Nation). The Lord God promised that even when the Jews were cast out of the Land for their many sins, God would still not forget His Covenant with Israel.

“Yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, nor shall I abhor them, to utterly destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the Lord their God. But for their sake I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.’” (Leviticus 26:44-45)

“For the Lord will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance.” (Psalm 94:14)

Obey God’s Word and be a defender of the Nation of Israel and a champion to the Jewish people. God’s reward will be with you,.
